I'm getting set to install a 4-core, high efficiency radiator in my '91 GW. Should I automatically replace the hoses at the same time? And, are stainless steel braided hoses worth the extra expense?

I do not think it is. I beleive even the braided hose has a rubber hose in the middle.........blown hose is a blown hose. Might last longer..........But then rubber hoses last for awhile. They sure do look nice though, I might use them on my Wag!!

I agree, Crazy_Jeepman, the braided hoses look great.

I'd replace the hoses since you've already got the coolant drained and easy access. Even if the current hoses are in good shape, replacing with new leaves you a great set of emergency hoses. My $.02.

You should make sure you use a high quality rubber hose like goodyear. Many of the autozone and advance brand names are poor quality.

Get a set of name brand replacment hoses, I don't beleive you or anyone on the
list would want to pay for a "true" braded hose replacment, all the radiator braded
things you see on the street rods are pretty covers only, true aircraft hoses would require
some serious modifications to both the water pump and radiator, to accept AN fittings.

On a side note: any stainless braded hose should be treated with respect, the braid
is tough and makes a great file for cutting though anything that rubs it over time.
