New part Identification...fuel guage sending unit doesn't look like the factory one.

Has anyone purchased a new fuel guage sending unit. I just got mine from the dealer and it looks totally different. Do I have the right one or am I going to have to return it.

Brad, I don't have the parts manual for 89 but the 88 DC PM list the sender as 53003-099. Pretty safe assumption it's the same for 89?

yes, it is the right one. The arm is really stiff, this was an update to the old design that just flops around. I thought mine was broken when I bought it, so I orderd another one. The arm is dampened so the gauge fluctuates less.

Thanks, I was hoping it was just an update. The guage did bounce around a bunch when it did work!!

i had mine gauge and floter replaced but i install an aftermarket from sunpro and it work great (but it goes down very fast)
