SOA from a dodge

Has any used a dodge front rearend for the SOA ! looks to me just like a chevy and the pumpkin is on the same side as mine.

I do believe that RustyJeep did this exact same swap in his J-truck. Might wanna check with him.

Yes, I did...but it wasn't as easy for me. Not that it was really difficult welding perches anyways, but oh well. This is because I have the side hung front springs so my springs didn't line up with the stock perches on the Dodge axle. On a later rig, though, it seems as it would line up perfectly...and the axles are a little wider than a WT axle so with the increased height of SOA, you get increased width, therefore better stability.

What year did yours come from ! I just came across a 76 model and my truck is a 76.I was think of putting the stock springs back on and using this dodge rearend. Heck for 50.bucks i could drop the shy lift springs. How much did it lift yours with the SOA.Can you e-mail me some pic ! when ever you find the time.thanks david

Mine were from a 76 Dodge 3/4 ton. So now I have the Dana 60 rear and 44HD front. It really didn't net me mucj lift, as the J trucks came factory with SOA through 1973. My lift came from my custom springs up front and shackle flip in the rear. I'm guessing you'd net a good 5-7" from your SOA swap...not sure as to exactly hom much. Then you have to think about how to lift the rear of your rig. Some people use lift blocks, some use lifts springs, and others yet use the RiverBeast shackle flip kit. It was designed to compensate for the height of the SOA'd front. If you want to check out some of my pics, follow the link below my sig....it'll take you to my website. :cool:

no you are not . but i was looking at the dodge front diff i beleave it was a d44 i was looking at and the steering nuckle was d side so the drag link was short and level .yes iwonder if that nuckle is interchangeable with the jeep d44. i just like the way the steering is set up . but the pass side drop again arg ...or i could have just strait swaped it with just some perch welding. any one know if it will swap?
