Hey guys, I'm looking to fit a set of 285/75R16 tires on my 81 J-20. Will they fit without rubbing? No lift on truck and the springs have no sag. Is this size comparable to 31in. 33 in. or what? Thanks for any help.

Go to www.4lo.com (http://www.4lo.com) they have a GREAT 4x4 calculator that will tell you what the conversion is....dunno if they will rub or not...sorry

Height wise you should be ok but I don't know about width?
The 285/75R16's are 32.8" in dia. about what 33's are in reality. The dia shouldn't be a problem if your suspension is good. I run 33x9.5's on one of my J-4000's with stock springs(in good shape) and they work just fine. I don't know how wide your tires are though? If they're up in the 11"-12" width range you may have a prob rubbing?

285/75R15 is 11.4" wide, and 32.1" tall.

I can run 33"x12.5r15 on my 78 J-10. Up front are some coopers, which started out at a diameter of 32.4" or so. The rear has mickey thompson mtx's and they are 32" in diameter and about 12.4" at the widest(according to the website). I have never had a problem with rubbing. However, I have yet to have the truck off camber off road and I have good springs. I would think you are good to go. My E-brake cables do come close to the rear tires, but not close enough to rub.

Good luck,

Daniel
