the bracket at the top of the radiator came loose and the radiator has had some soldering done just below the cap. so, i want to replace it. i know a 3 core will bolt up without any mods but how about a 4 core. anybody recommend a brand. i've read the archives and it seems like a pretty easy job to do. i only want quality parts. it gets hot here and when i go to the river- 120 degrees plus.
Hey Capt...
There is no external size difference between a 3 row and a 4 row radiator in the Wagoneers except the depth of the core.
The stock radiator with the towing package was a 3 row but the tanks (top and bottom of the radiator where the hoses attach) will fit a 4 row core. You have two options here, they are to buy a new 3 or 4 row radiator or have yours re-cored.
Radiators.com (http://www.radiators.com) seems to have the most competitive prices around. I think that they were around $185 for a 3 row and $200 for a 4 row last time I checked. Mabye someone around here knows of a better internet/mail order place ?
If you go for the re-core, stay away from American Muffler and Radiator in T.O. They are way overpriced (like over $350 to 4 row my tanks). When I told them I could buy for around $200 they got
Anyways, I still want to check out your Wagon :D You going to be around this weekend ?

I think I ordered my 4-row GDI from http://www.discountradiators.com ; came to $165 or so for the radiator, including shipping. Only thing I don't like about it is their inconvenient bottom-mount drain-plug, rather than the ordinary petcock-style drain. Wadda mess! But, for $165, I'll deal with it...

i got me 4 core at radiators.com.
~197$.
same drain as BB has, but for the $$$. sign me up :D
I paid $202 locally for my 4 row Modine last fall. Check around before you spend more on shipping than you would have on tax!
