My truck sits for most of the week and I use it mostly on weekends. It has a 727 auto in it. When I first start it and get ready to go, it doesn't immeditely go when I start to accelerate. It acts like it is trying to get enough hydraulic pressure to engage. Once it does, it is fine the rest of the weekend with good shifts. It has the right amount of tranny fluid in it. Is this normal???

1st, ck fluid level
2cnd, ck fluid condition, if dirty a restricted filter??
does it work better if the engine is warmed up before you take off, when you take off do you go forward first or do you back up first?

Fluid level is right on, the fluid looks fine and does not smell burnt, I will probably have to pull the pan and check the fluid. I hate that job since the pan doesn't have a drain plug. I usually wait a few minutes before taking off. The engne isn't fully warmed up, but here in Houston it isn't cold either. I back up first usually, but it does it whether I am backing up or going forward.

sounds like your converter is leakingback, if the chack valve in the trans is leaking when off it will drain the converter down over time till you run it and fill it back up. try starting it and put in -n- till you run it for a few min and see if that helps.

the 727 has a drain back converter the converter is empty on start up and it takes a little while for it to fill up it is normal after sitting
