Hey boys I need all the brain power and knowledge available.

I need to know if there are any differences between the American and Canadian Wagoneers. I already know that the Canadian Wags had a different weight than the US buddies do. I can't remember which was heavier but I'll get back in the morning with the results.

What I’m really gunning at is axles. I hear that the wags changed from D44 in the rear to AMC 20 or 30's for a few years then changed back to the luscious D44's. I've looked at a lot of web pages for help on axle ID, but i can't get anything concrete, plus I can't find any stampings on my axles.

So please please grace me with your knowledge so I can become big and strong like the rest of you.

Try this out in the tech library... http://www.ifsja.org/tech/figures/db.shtml
I think the AMC 20 was used from 80 to 86

also if your pumkin is pretty much perfectly round it is the AMC 20...

AMC 20 rears have a big pumpkin, dead center that is perfectly round. D44s were a little off center from what I recall in the rear, and they're not round, they're kinda triangular. Pretty much look at your front axle and if your rear pumpkin looks like the front pumpkin it's a D44, if it's different it's a AMC20 smile.gif

AMC used the D44(offset to pass side) rear in Wag's from 74-79. 80 to mid-late 86 they used the M20 centered diff. Late 86 to 91 they used a centered D44. Being a US or Canadian built Wag wouldn't make any difference.

Thanks Guys. I found my listing of vehicle weight. The American Wagoner’s were 6200 lbs. (2812 kg.) and the Canadians were 5975 lbs. (2710 kg.). But it shows the axles to be the same weight class. I appreciate the input though.
