Help! Electric CHoke Wiring Problem

I just installed an edelbrock setup and I am wondering about the choke. I can grab the hot lead that previously went to the thermal switch down on the front of the motor for hot, but does the carb require a ground?

shouldnt need a ground as long as its bolted to the manifold
