Yup, I lowered it!

Since I have front 4" BDS lift springs and a rear 3" block, my rig suffered from a slightly lower rear end. I also felt that 6 leaves in the BDS spring pack was a little too much for my unit since I don't have a winch or big bumper.

Also, I have been suffering from a little vibration in the front drive shaft. Noticeable mainly when going down hill with my foot off the accelerator, but also noticeable at highway speeds. I had the front shaft checked out... they said it was bent, but after being fixed and balanced it didn't make any difference.

So, I thought MAYBE taking out a couple leafs might lower it just enough to help with the front driveshaft angle.

Well, I took out two leafs - a short one which probably didn't do anything, and the next one which obviously provided some support.

Results:

My rig now sits level. It has a noticeably softer, improved ride, which seems to match the backend better now. The vibration seems to be less noticeable, especially at highway speeds, but still noticeable going down hill (any suggestions?).

check your universal joints in the front driveshaft.

Why not block up the rear some more?
Or re-arch the rear springs?

The u-joint is a good place to start. Also the pinion angle could have been causing the driveshaft to vibrate.

I was going to rebuild the rear springs to make it level at first, but decided to try this to see if I could get rid of the vibration. That was the main motivation behind this. Plus, I don't mind having a skinnier spring pack under my diffs!

The weird thing is, the u-joints are brand new. That was the first thing I did to try and fix the vibration. That didn't help, so I wondered if maybe the driveshaft was out of balance. That didn't help either (unless they just painted my driveshaft and charged me $50!).

Maybe these BDS springs are garbage? smile.gif

Anyone running Rusty's with a Quadra-Trac? My little bro has Skyjacker's up front in his Wag, and he has a little bit of vibration too, but he's blessed with a Selec-Trac and hubs.
