The sound is and odd grinding sound, its not constant, and it get harder and louder when turning left. You cant hear the grind'n at all when I turn right. My guess is the rear wheel bearing, does this sound about right?

If so, is it hard to replace? I sure the hell hope not! lol thanks!

Easy to tell if it is the bearing going out. Jack up the rear end and rotate tire. You'll hear the grinding and noise from the bearing as long as your brake shoes aren't making noise. As for changing them out, it's not too bad a job. Once you take the wheel and brake drum off, there's a cover behind the axle flange that has 6 bolts. this is what hold the axle/seal/bearing in. Once those bolts are removed, use a slide hammer to pop axle out. Bearing is pressed on to the axle so I would take that to the machine shop to have removed and reinstalled.

Thanks, im getting ready to go check everything right now. Do you HAVE to go to a machine shop? Or can I do it myself?

You can do it yourself. If you don't have a slide hammer, you can rent them from hardware stores sometimes.

you need a slide hammer to get the axle out? or for the bearings them selves?

In my hayns or chiltons or whatever book I have, its saying that I have a full floating axle, and in the book its says that It should just pull out. Are there some retaining clips on the inside of the pumpkin? Or do I NEED the slide hammer?

Axle is out, now how the hell do I get the bearing off without bringing it to a shop?

You need to determine exactly what type axle you have. If its a flanged axle then it need to go to a shop the presses bearings on axles. I've did my own once but wont again. Its better to let a pro do them imo.

I just replaced the bearing on the rear axle. did it red neck style. A few buddys came over, one guy has a scout  , he brought the 20 ton press he bought. we could not get it with that and lacking a torch the other guy asked if I had an axe. Took the axe and a 3 pound hammer and cut across the bearing and retainer. axe is toast but bearing is off. We put the first bearing on backwards so had to get it off and put another one on. :D the only problem I had was the bearing came apart while 'tapping' into place. then used a 4x4 to tap axle into houseing.
done
