HELP PLEASE steering column swap

Hey guys,I need some help here.My buddy has an 88' wagoneer, and his steering column broke today while he was driving.I happen to have one laying around for a 79'.Will this swap right out or will he have problems with the plugs {wiring}.The wagon is not here so I can't check to see if the plugs are the same.....Need to know tonight if possible.

The plugs are different. Since the 88 has the dimmer switch in the column and the 79 was on the floor, as well as the wiper switch. It could all be made to work, but would be more trouble than its worth. I would think someone here would have one, I do not at the moment. What exactly broke? There are repair kits for a sloppy column ;)

who has these repair kits my tilt column is very sloppy and needs fixed or replaced.
