I think I need to rebuild the Tranny. :( :( It leaks pretty bad and I need to replace the flex plate. Also, I just started to shift funny and it vibrates now. I think that is enough reasons. While I am at it will do the Quadratrac too. How hard is it to rebuild myself? What will i need to do it? Should I just take it to a tanny place? I don't really know what I am in for. Need imput. Thanks.

If you don't want the hassle of rebuilding, I got a good TH400 you can have for cheap.

Well, depends on how mechanical you are.Make sure you have a teardown manual and take your time. When puting clutches together make sure they fully seat.Inspect everything very closely and be carefull to not nick the valve body.I think the most important part is to get a manual.
The main part of a tranny rebuild is replacing steels and clutches and seals and cleaning and inspecting everything else.

Don't do it unless you have the tools or can fab them yourself.

I managed to do it with pretty much basic tools and a manual. Did it over a year ago and it has run great. I have a leak at my pump seal, but the build was easier then I expected.

I say go for it. Its not as hard as some people make it out to be. The most important things are is get a good manual or two , keep things clean and take your time. It can help to have some one else help and also read the manual to catch any thing you miss! I had to take things back apart half way multiple times to make sure every thing went together right.

Thanks for the offer longmountainman but I thinkI want to learn how to do this.
I have rebuilt many motors, so I think I am mechically inclined enough to tackle this. I just need time. But Time is valuable so, I am looking for a estimate on a price to get it done. Anyone? Also, Do I need a spcific TH400 manual?
miked I saw that post with gsmikie. It doesn't look like he can come up here. It would be great to see one done or have instruction. Then I'll know next time.
What is the best rebuild kit or are the all good enough? And for the quadratrac too?
