Hey, all!
One thing that is not clear to me on FSJs is the different tail light styles. I see the rectangular ones like my '80 Cherokee that are completely on the back end, and then I see the more square ones that wrap around the side a little, and also serve as the side markers. I saw this style on a '79 Wagoneer. I haven't been able to quite match up years and models to the different tail light styles. Does it depend on the year, or if it's a Wag instead of a Chero?? Clue me in..........Thx.

As far as I know the Wagoneer used the wrap around until '83 then went to a separate taillight / sidemarker in '84. Similar to what the Cherokee always used.

Ah! Now I'm getting it! The Cherokee never had the wrap around square tail-lights, and Wagoneers had it until they changed to Grand Wagoneers in 1984! Thx!

I think its a guessing game cause I saw a Cherokee in the junk yard today, I don't know what year??? and it had the wrap around tail lights like my 75 Wag, your guess is better than mine. Sorry I can't be of any help.

Hey coolram, I see you have a '70 Monte Carlo, those are great cars, I had a '71 SS 454, one of 1865 that were made in '71, I wish I still had that one, I was living in L.A. and a guy in Chicago saw it for sale and flew out and bought it sight unseen. Oh well, I would have to have a warehouse to keep all the one's I should have kept. Hang on to yours and DON'T sell it.

I put together a Wagoneer spotter's page (follow the link in my sig below), which has the info on the changes (major and subtle) for the Wagoneer lights, but it also mentions the apparent similarity to the Cherokee lights. In actual fact, the lenses, housings and wiring are different, so you can't simply swap one for the other.

Just went to the junk yard and pulled the rear side marker lenses off of a 1988 Grand Wagoneer, and they fit perfectly on my 1980 Cherokee!!?? However, the chrome housing for the lenses extended too far (wrapped around the back slightly) on the GWag to use those parts.
So there does exist the full size Cherokee with wrap-arounds?? A Holy Grail it sounds like!!

Definitely rare to find a Cherokee with wrap-arounds--look through the Reader's Rigs--not even one!
