my '86GW has an off idle stumble, it seems more pronounced when turning corners. I have
futzed with the two idle adjusting screws making about 1/4 turn at a time.{about2.25 turns out) I can get it to run a little differently each time, but the weather seems to have a large effect. What is everyone else running carb wise on a stock 360. Is rebuilding the carb the way to go or total replacement. Any tech help is greatly appreciated. :confused: :eek: :mad:

sven trials;
... Floats, chokes, power valves and accelerator pumps is where most carburetor problems happens.
I would (and did) put a kit in it. The biggest trick is setting up the float pin properly. If you should have a problem with the pin send me a PM...

… The MC-2150s are losing a lot of power valves and accelerator pumps. A lot of floats, power valves and accelerator pumps are ‘old stock’ and were manufactured long ago. Some of the additives (EPA requirement) they are putting in our gasoline these days are rotting various diaphragms, gaskets and seal materials made from older materials. A lot of electric fuel pumps have instructions that warn not to run alcohol though them and some of our fuel is 10% alcohol.
… A cool idea is two buy a matching carburetor from a salvage yard and learn to rebuild it in your spare time. It doesn’t take long to swap them out for a test.

I would check the float.

I am going to put on an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and a 600cfm Edelbrock Performer carb. I've heard lots of good comments about this combo.
