I apoligize for an off-topic post, but you guys know everything, right?

My father-in-law has an 89 Ranger with the 4 cyl engine and a 5 speed tranny. The tranny gave up and he hasn't had a lot of luck finding a replacement. He has found one tranny at a boneyard, but they want $1300 for it. Here's the question: Will a C3 or C4 auto bolt up to this engine? He'd prefer an auto tranny, but he'll do whatever to get it running again.

Thanks,

Greg

If a C4 can hold up to a Hi-po 289 in a 65 Mustang, then I would say a 4-cylinder would be a piece of cake! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif

Best of luck to you.

Actually, Rangers & Bronco IIs used the C5. (Sorry, Snake, I'm just nitpicking http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif) A C4 would work just fine: http://www.therangerstation.com/C4vsC5.html
