I'm wondering if my tranny is slipping. 727 behind a 360. Motor seems to rev more than the vehicle moves, especially as low speeds. Don't seem to notice at highway speeds.

I got the Wag at 179,000 and have done a lot of towing of my other cars. I'm at 190,000 now. I notice this the most when I have a heavy load. Motor is unrebuilt. I get 6 mpg loaded, maybe 8 or 9 mpg highway empty. Never more.

I've never noticed the tranny fluid smelling burned. Shortly after I got the vehicle I dropped the pan and replaced the AT filter & fluid. I tightened the bands while I was in there, but I didn't know what I was doing & just cranked them down a bit. Did I mess them up just tightening them down? Is this just old age slippage? Am I up for a rebuild if I have no other symptoms? Am I begging for a burned-up tranny?

I torched the TH350 in our Blazer towing the J10 home. Don't want to repeat that experience.

drain the trans set the bands again tighten them to 3 foot lbs then back the screw out 3/4 turns then when you put fluid back in use type f fluid it stands up better and does not break down as dextron does it also runs cooler if this does not do the trick ..........................pull it out and come see me
