Does anyone make a replacement gas tank skidplate for a 86 Jeep GW?

dealer only i beielve....and it's about $300...a rip-off in my opinion. they are pretty simple. a custom shop could probably make you one for cheaper.

Give Sooner Jeep Salvage a call. Their website is www.soonerjeep.com (http://www.soonerjeep.com)

That is where I got my skid plate, cost me $50.

The dealers only have one left in the whole country - they stopped making them about a year and a half ago. The welder I was using said it would cost a lot more to have him fabricate a copy. I bought the second to last one for $287. I was in a hurry. If you can get one used, that's your best bet.

If someone could give me a little sketch or drawing of how these skid plates are made....I have access to some pieces of Stainless and Alumiumn plates that are about 3 feet square...We are a little slow at my shop and maybe I can cut some good deals on making them between now and spring of 2003...Let me know...

The dealers now have none left in all North America. Just picked it up. Got an excellent deal. ;) $300 US. None exist in the recylcing yards up here (their all rusted) and the shipping from the U.S. on this large item is out of the world.

Plus I am in a hurry and it is the only thing left to fix before the safety inspection. :D

Phew! I guess I got mine just in time.

I covered it with Chassiscoat from the POR-15 company, and put spacers in for drainage. I don't want to have to look for another now that YOU BOUGHT THE LAST ONE!

I'm going to go the POR-15 route too. Where did you put the spacers for drainage?
