I have no clue. I just got rid of the stock clunky air element on the carb and threw an edelbrock polished air cleaner on there. I noticed improved throttle too. Now I want to get rid of as much vacuum lines as possible. I also have no 4-wheel drive, but that's another problem.
So what say you guys?

Do a search on vacuum lines, but to save you some time Dr. Bob Barry wrote an article on what is necessary...

Mostly this depends on the smog rules in your area. I am smog free and have
1. line to distributor
2. line to brake booster
3. line to pcv
4. lint to qt switch
5. line to heater controls
6. line to in-cab vacuum guage
