My drivers side window does not operate and looking into it I find a nylon strap with gear teeth broke in half. Where would you look for one and is there a special technique for installing the new one
Thank for your continued help

you can snake it out from the top with the window all the way down. Wedge a piece of wood or plastic in there to spread it out a hair. Window "tapes" real cheap at dealer.

I am so confused or we are talking apples and oranges. The old strip which I am assuming passes through the motor gear and somehow makes the window go up and down. The old one came right out the bottom in pieces I cant se how to get another in there do you have to remove the motor to install it. the window wont stay up without it. I looked at a 81 but it was totally different than my 83.
thanks again

The window flextrac is availible at the dealer($14.50) or thru local parts store in the Help brand parts(12.50).Only difference I see is the dealer item is direct replacement and the parts store piece is cut to length. The trac rides on a metal channel to reinstall you have to remove the torx(T15 or T20)screws to do this.Haynes and Chiltons cover this and there is probably something on it in the tech section here.

It's really not that hard. I took my track & motor all the way out because I didn't know any better. Didn't know you could do this job without removing the assembly.

Cleaned & lubed it all up and replaced the track. Works fine, now. My track broke, too. Advance Auto had a universal Chrysler track available for about $10. You have to cut the end to length, but it's way better than using an old junkyard track.

And I have an '83 Wag Limited, too.

the '81 and '83 are different??

the track can be easily removed from the motor. there are two tiny screws that bolt the track to the motor. they are kinda hard to get at, youll need a mirror and flashlight to see them. And remove the torx bolts above. the track should come out easy then. I used duct tape to hold the window up while doing this task.

I like the dealers version of the flex track. For $3 more it has always lasted longer and feeds in better. Just my opinion.
