Does anyone know an easy way to remove the flaking 14 year old clearcoat off of the hood & roof? It's starting to look prety disgusting. The paint underneath is probably OK with a little polishing & wax.
Any ideas?

SAND IT OFF...YOU WOULD HAVE TO REFINISH IT....YOU WILL NEVER GET IT TO SHINE..EVEN IF YOU COULD JUST REMOVE ONLY THE CLEAR.....THAT'S WHY IT HAS A CLEAR COAT... smile.gif

Aircraft stripper, easier than sanding, however it will take the paint and bondo with it

My xj did this and if you plan to paint it again, you have to strip the clear completely off the hood/rood or the clear line will show through the new paint when it shrinks.
Body shops never use chemical base stripers, they usually take a Dual Action air sander and go to it.
