Hey guys,My 77 Cherokee has a strange problem. When i bought it,it had an aux. tank in the area where the spare tire went.It also had a filler neck with a Y near the top so that both tanks could fill. Now that i removed the extra tank, when I fuelit up, it keeps pouring back out the filler tube unless I put it in reeeal slow. any suggestions?

try to figure out a way to vent it better.
I was looking at the filler neck on my 2003 taurus and thinking of how much narrower it is than on my J10 (which does what you describe, as well as most everyone else's).
I was wondering if somehow figuring out why the new car filler neck is much narrower and if that has something to do w/our spitup issues.

I was reading about how spilled gas accounts for a huge percentage of hydrocarbon air emissions. Basically, I probably pollute more at the gas pump than driving around for a week. All the emissions equipment in the world won't make up for a poorly designed filler neck!

You have a restirction in the vent some where. I had an issue on my dads j-20. The vent hose from the tank was all plugged up.

The Cherokee has two small vents which go to the Liquid Check Valve in the engine compartment. See if they are hooked up. On the rear driver's side of the tank, the Filler Vent Hose attaches to the Filler Hose near the Filler Cap. You have to take off the inside rear quarter panel to get to the hose. It could be cracked, disconnected, plugged, or missing.
