After putting my new edelbrock on I've had a problem with my cherokee being hard to start. With this I mean that when I crank it in the morning or after it's been sitting a while it fires immediately but dies. I restart it and it runs a minute and dies. I have to do this a few times until she will stay running. But she runs rough for a minute until it warms up and after that she runs fine. What would cause this? It's a 1405 manual choke but I haven't hooked up a choke cable yet to see if if choking it would help it crank easier. This is the only problem that I have with it. It runs great once it warms up.

Yup, hooking up the choke would be a good place to start.

You have just found out why there is a choke. Hook it up and you will be fine.
