Any thoughts? The only problems I see are the wheel base and the narrow axles on the waggy, its a 79. The wheelbase thought wouldn't matter much because I'd probably make a metal flat bed. the narrow track axles would help keep the 35" tires from sticking out to far... Oh, It would be a 67 Gladiator cab...

Hmmm, after crawiling under the gladdy and then the waggy the mounts that they share under the cab section apear to be in very similar locations.....

Oh yeah, hell yeah! I got my winter project! Anyone wanna buy a 67 J2000 rolling chasis??!!
I am doing the same thing, putting a 71 J4600 Cab and front clip on my 74 Wagoneer frame using the Wags 401/400/QT. Gonna go with a flatbed. My truck sure is gonna look funny for a while with the NT axles and big ol' WT flares and no bed (for a while)
Check out my site (http://wago4k.tk) for a quick explanation, and feel free to e-mail me with questions and i will try to answer as best i can. pyrotom85@yahoo.com
Here (http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/tube_bed) is the flatbed style i am gonna go with, obviously sized a little bigger, but not much longer since i am gonna chop the frame off right behind the rear spring mounts. I am going to build the roll bar a little bit stronger by adding a V in the main hoop and stuff, but it's gonna basically be like that. I don't know if thats the kind of flatbed you are looking at or if you are looking more for a usable flatbed.
The biggest problems i am having right now (not real big, just time consuming) is figuring out what steering setup i am gonna use, i think i am gonna swap out the old dash and column from the 71 for one out of my 73, yours might have a different type of steering box and all, not sure, mine had same box. The other issue is wiring, a PITA and very time consuming, but very doable.
I am also gonna do a spring over with my J4600 dana 60-2 rear axle, and use a 3/4ton chevy front w/ ford outers (5 lug to match rear) and then i would have 4.10 gears too. I am only planning on running 35s right now though.
I added some links to flatbed ideas on the bottom of my site. Check 'em out and let me know if you have any questions.

Cool info. My W/T front fenders are shot so I was planning on using the good fenders off my waggy. Either way I was planing on sawzalling the flairs off anyway to fit bigger tires. I want to use the whole interior out of my 67, guages and all since they all work good. But I'll probably have to go get some cheap aftermarket ones. I'm hoping the Gladdy steering colum will bolt to the waggy box, haven't really looked into that yet. I think though it would be much simpler to use the waggy steering colum since it already has the correct wiring and the ignition. It would really simplifye wiring. I can alway get a vintage looking steering wheel or something for it. I'd just like to keep the inside looking as 67 as possible.
I dont see the wiring being a major issue, especially if I use the waggy steering colum. I'm gunna keep it simple and use the most of the wiring harness from the Waggy. I'm also looking at hanging the waggy pedal assembly in the gladdy cab...
As for the bed, I drew up plans on autocad last night for a replica of my gladiators step side bed. Mostly using 1" square tubing and 18 ga sheet metal, and trying to reuse the original tail gate and rear fenders. But I'll probably just put a homegrown redneck wook flat bed for now seeing as I'm doing this as cheap as possible. I am also looking at bobing the frame right behind the rear spring hangers and making a custom crossmember that has D-rings and a 2" reciever built. there is a metal fab shop across from my work that said they could do it for around $150...
I'm probably going to incorporate a 2" body lift to make up for the difference in the hight of the body mounts on the frame.
Thats the other thing i forgot to mention, is that the brake boosters and such are different, so you may want to swap since you will have Disc brakes in the front.
The steering might be able to be swapped, you'll just have to look at the connectors and stuff to see.
I wanted to keep mine with the 71 interior, but the dash is cracked bad, and i don't like the color much, so i am gonna put in the black dash from my Waggy.
