View Full Version : Better performance/economy from a 360? Part 2

Hey Everyone,

I NEED help... I'm a sick sick man... I walk into a parts store, thinking better economy, and try to order the high-zoot, made of UnObtanium parts that will do nothing for economy, but would make great power at RPMs my Jeep will probably never see!

Can someone give me a shopping list, that I can forward to the wife, so she goes and gets what I need, not what I want? :D

Here's what I've got now, my engine is a relatively fresh rebuild, its a 76 360 block, we know its a stroked engine (not sure what crank, but it definitely had a longer stroke than the dead 360 it replaced) 2bbl intake, MSD 6 Off-road ignition.

What I need to do, is replace the cam (and bearings) and get the heads overhauled. (multiple 'minor' problems, a broken rocker, and a broken valve spring (both on cyl # 8) and the valve guides and seals could stand to be done (minor blue puff after sitting overnight))

What I _really_ want to do, is get a 4bbl carb (preferably truck avenger) or EFI. If I have to rebuild another 2150 (or replace a blown PV) I'm going to scream!

While we're at it, need to start planning the exhaust system. I'm planning to keep the stock manifolds, but the rest of the system isn't decided on. But everything needs to get replaced (other than the empty shell of a cat).

Suggestions? Shopping lists? (BTW budget is 2500$US for engine, exhaust budget allows around 6-700 (including fixing manifolds, the DSPOs removal of air injection stuff, just plugging the holes properly).

Edlebrock dualplane "Air-Gap" Performer intake
EFI
Cam- best suited for your use
MSD Billit Distributer
MSD Blaster coil 3
MSD SuperConductor wires

Heads overhauled as you said- replace w/ all new set of springs. Rockers can be replaced individually. New valve guides, 3-angle & just a minor pocket-port. Done

Exhuast- FlowMaster DeltaFlow series & hi-flow cat

After all of this... you should STILL have plenty of $$$ from your budget. :D I'd a K&N 14"x4" filter & the K&N X-tream lid. A simple engine "dress-up" chrome kit & your done. :D
