I am rebuilding my Amc 360 and i was looking for pistons so i called summit and they dident have them so i called american preformance and they had them but they wanted $260.00 for the cast pistons and another 90.00 for steel rings. The Guy was saying how the pistons were really hard to get, and that barely anybody made them. Is that true? is their a better place to get them from?

Look for KB/Silvolite Part No. 2225, available in standard bore, 0.20", 0.30", 0.40" and 0.60" overbore for the AMC 360, and will raise your compression ratio with stock heads to 9:1.

Well, if all else fails, you can always go this route...
Chevy 400 pistons,
401 crank and rods,
a little head work...
BAM! 393 Stroker!
But At least you can do the 400 pistons

Yup.. a little boring and it should go in... consult www.froadin.com (http://www.froadin.com) for more details. He's got the info on making 393 strokers.

I went all over froadin.com and didn't see anything very specific about putting a 401 crank into a 360 other than saying it was possible with the right pistons.
Besides the bore, what else needs to be changed. Are the wristpins different sizes?

I am currently doing homework on that very question! :D
From what I read on the page, the crank is a bolt in.. the 400 pistons are practically a drop-in with the exception of a little rod modification that any decent machine shop can do.
According to the page, 400 pistons in a stock 360 block will net 367.7 ci
With a 401 crank thrown in the mix you get 393.3 ci...
Voila! 393 Stroker.

if i am corect here ...a friend of mine that i traded my blown wag to got an entire engine kit pistons and all (oil pump gears too ) for just over 200 smacks from auto zone was a pretty nice kit too ..if you want i can try and get the part #
From the IFSJA engine tech articles by Michael Baxter...
Crank Specs (http://www.ifsja.org/tech/motors/cranks.shtml)
Engine Specs (http://www.ifsja.org/tech/motors/v8specs.shtml)
Looks like you need to widen the main journals (all except #3) on the 390/401 cranks to fit them in the 360 block. If you want to fit the 400 chebby pistons read quote from "Engine" page...
"If you punch the block out to 4.125 & and re-bush the little end of the rods to the Chevy pin, I found a SB Chevy 400 piston with a 1.56 CH. You would need to mill ~.020 from the decks."
