I'm in the process of converting my drum brakes in my CJ to disc brakes, but I need some help. I was wondering if anyone can give me a step by step instruction list on how to do this, including proportioning valve and master cylinder instruction, and I'm planning on putting an el dorado caliper in so I can have an e-brake, again if anyone has instructions on how to do this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Check out Kens site at http://www.home.earthlink.net/~kenns9/_wsn/page3.html . He did a rear disc conversion. Hope that helps a little.

Jeff,
What axle is this for M20 or D44?
I have done 2 disc swaps to my jeeps below and have used the TSM kit and the one for a guy on ebay.

Both basically provide you with the caliper bracket, bolts and rotors. It's up to you to get the calipers, lines/hoses and pads. The TSM was over 300 from what I remember and the ebay kit is around 200. Here is the auction for scout rear so would work for 44, not sure about the model 20?

Other things of note, I did nothing to the proportioning valve but did get the 79 firebird power disc brake master cylinder because I wasn't getting enough juice in the back. I don't like the idea of opening up the prop valve because if you loose a hose, you loose ALL brakes instead of either front or rear. Anyway, hope that helps...

It's a D60, and the Jeep has 40' tires.

we did discs on my friends rear 60 by using frontbackig plates with a spacer, and attacing the front rotor to the rear hub with front studs.

this will not work,of course,if youre changing your 60 over to semi floating so that you can use 5 lug axles.

i run rear discs and still havent done any mods to the master cyl or prop valve. the bigger your tires get,the harder it is to lock them up,and it seems, the less relavent it becomes toget the bias exactly right smile.gif my stops just fine...

anyway, let me know if youre planning on keeeping 8 lugs and if you need more info...
