I am trying to find out what engine will bolt up where my 327 AMC was. any sugestions would help

none.
the bolt patern of ur trany does not match any curent found v8...
ur best bet is to find a passenger car at a tow yard lein sale and swap in the eng/trany and than adapt the xcase to the nu trany.
i was able to do this with a C350 from a malibu.
if u find an FSJ with a Buick or AMc v8/th400 late 68 to 79. u can swap them into ur frame with not much probs.
im using a 79 QT on the back of my Cth400.

You can also try marinas for a Chris Craft Merc Cruiser V8 as they were the AMC (read Rambler)327's. If you have a t400 with an adaptor plate there are still some adpator plates in junk yards for buicks or later AMC 6's and 8's. I scraped one for a 6 (stupid me) and have one for a buick 350.
