Does anybody know a good fix for a noisy speedometer cable?

Pull the cable. Remove the flex cable from inside the housing and clean it with lacquer thinner or brake cleaner. Lube the flex with some lithium grease and then reassemble. Should be good as new. smile.gif

Retro: I was afraid of that. I am getting the Jeep ready to take a road trip and was hoping there would be an easy fix that didn't take too much time. I thought I might do this: 1. Take the cable loose at the dash, 2. take it loose at the TC, 3. Pull the flex cable out from the bottom a few inches, 3. Squirt some lube (graphite or ?) into the dash end and let gravity pull the lube into the cable, then put it back together.
Crazy Jeepman: Is that Speedo Lube thick like lithim grease?

That will work too. I just like to make sure things are nice and clean before I put 'em back together. smile.gif

Speedo shop guy recently told me to use of all things vaseline.... I imagine dedicated speedo lube would be better though. But thats what he said......

Got it done by shooting lithium grease in both ends at the connections. I had forgotten about the coupling low on the firewall between dash and TC. Lucky I didn't have to go into it.
