Ok, i know this has been covered to death, but i did a search and cant find anything.i put on my rusty's 4 inch lift this winter and am now just getting it out for the year.Noticed two things, when i hit a good bump in the road,or pothole or anything like that,it sounds/feels like the springs are "snaping" back into place.kinda like a oil can,pop-pop.Doesnt sound like anything is loose, and i checked everything.the only old suspention component is the frame side shackle bushing.is this the normal ride?I'm not really complaining, just wondering.
the other thing, front end seams bouncy, prolly' just the rusty shocks.anybody expereinc that?
Oh, one last thing, i have read people recomend dpa for wagoneers. Is this the same for chero's?dont feel any bump steer at all.
thanx in advance!! smile.gif

one other thing on the noise,I have hit bumps with each tire individually, and it is the same at every corner.

It almost sounds like you said that you installed the 4" lift and left your old, rusty shocks on. If this is the case, your old shocks now have to extend an extra 4" every time you hit a bump and may be out of travel and are topping out. A quick check is to diconnect one end of the shock with the truck sitting and see how far you can extend the shock. If you can't get at least a good 2", you are in need of shocks. It is generally reccomended that you get new shocks with a lift for just this reason.

My rusty's front springs took about 5 months to fully break in. They wennt down about a 1/2" from when they where new. Which is pretty normal.

For the snapping back feeling, I dont get this.. What shocks are you runing? Also, when you put the springson, did you leave everything kinda loose until oyu put it ont he ground, jumped on the front end to seat stuff, then tighten it up?

I would think something from the battery to the starter.battery cables, selinoid, starter.Probly the starter Iv had this happen a couple times and that was the cause. If all else fails move to antartica.any ways good luck.

ok, i went out and looked,my battery is jumping around!j/k tongue.gif .
I did replace the shocks with "rusty's" brand shocks.
And i did set it on the ground under its weight before tightening the bushing bolts.mabee i just tightened them to much and they are binding a little.I also probabbly made it sound more severe than it really is,because it isnt that bad.thanx!

The Rusty Brand shocks are really soft. Thats were your getting the bounciness from. I have the same problem. I ordered a set of Rancho RS9000Xs to replace the crappy rustys shocks. Problem solved. I would not have lived with those soft shocks and bouncy front end very long... smile.gif

Cant help you on your other problems...

Do you have a 4" drop pitman arm? Make sure under suspension compression that the DPA is not hitting the main tie rod.... I have had this in the past... and others have too...

Also... when you installed the system did you preload the springs by leaving everything loose and then lowering on the the ground ( all weight on suspension... then bounce on the bumpers a while.. then go back and tighten all nuts/bolts to spec? If not... you have a SEVERLY stiff ride.... all suspension nuts/bolts should be tightened to spec under full weight....
