My fuel gauge in my 87 Wagoneer shows full untill it burns off about 10gal, than it starts to floats untill it runs out(twice to my wife). Since this is a new to me GW and I'd like to keep it(see wife note) is it the sending unit? The only test I preformed was a meter reading at the inspection plate which showned no loop resistance/ohmns.At the time I believe it had about half a tank and it should have 55 ohmns,(thats what the book said!)
Could I be missing something?
Thanks

Ernie,
Gotta keep the wife happy!!! Sometimes the sending unit coils will collect parafin wax from
years of runnig fuel through your tank. I have heard guys trying to clean it off without any good results. I purchased a new sending unit from the dealer for about $39 or $49 - I can't remember. It was the easiest fix for me. i did have to adjust (bent) the float rod in order to make it more acurate. I don't know if that is normal but in my case it worked and is still working two years later. Good luck and keep postin'.
p.s. Did you use the search feature or check out the archives? There may be some info. there.
