hey list,
can anyone point me to a good source for a rebuilt compressor. I've got an '84 gw so I assume I have a York. Thanks in advance. Also looking for an alternator bracket if anyone can spare I'll buy.
Thanks

if yours is bad ,from what i have heard the later grand wagoneers (89-91)i think had some other brand of compresor that is suposed to be alot beter. you may want to try to find one of those. i'm sure someone else will chim in with that info.

I found that a rebuilt York was more expensive than a brand new Sanden, so I converted to the Sanden on my 81. The compressor with brackets was $200. Huge improvement over the boat anchor too.

Cliff,
Did you have to have new hoses made to work with the Sanden rather than the York? Where the fittings the same?

Fittings were not the same, but I converted to R134 at the same time. The Sanden is available for R12 also, which should have the same fittings. Don will have all the answers. Price was the same for either refrigerant.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. So what your saying is that the Sanden is better than the York. Is that a consensus? Also, I use the old freon (R12 I guess), does that mean that I would have to change the fittings?
Thanks again
