Whoa! I'm really interested in your rear suspension set-up! Are those spring hangers bolted in stock locations? How does it all work? Would you consider making sets for people like us? I would love to hike the rear of my J-20 up and take out those tacky blocks.. wont be needing them again till I do the spring over on my already 4" lifted spring front end! Looks super-clean!

River Beast, I didn't see those pictures of the springs before. Did you just post these? I saw the ones when you was just fabricating the parts. Looks sweet to say the least! What did you have to do to make the tank fit? You need to do a write up on this install so we can all do this. I would love to have a larger gas tank.

Thanks guys.... All the write-ups are in work or done. I am just being maticulous on my verbage and still designing my new and improved site... 3 months and counting. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/eek.gif
This is a quick "down and dirty"
...First off I would like to thank Clark Griswald, Kenall, Mark and PA JEEPER for their help and support.... I couldn't have done it without ya in the qmount of time that I did... THANKS!!! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif
JF,
yeah...these are new, completed in June... I had designed 3 different setups and the final designs are the ones in the latest pics above. No welding is required (as in my first design)
Snake,
The rear suspension in the pics is a 7" shackle inversion mod that I came up with with drop-down brackets to compensate for the 7" gained by a SOA conversion in front. I HATE BLOCKS!!! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/mad.gif... that was my motivation. I took ALOT of time, just in caculations and measurements... time and time again (about a good 2.5 months worth in my spare time) before I started the whole thing. I had to make sure the suspension would work just as it did in the OEM position or I wasn't going to do it.
The front hangers-the bottom of the factory mount plate MUST be cut from the rig to mount this correctly... there was no other way to get the strength I needed. You only remove 12" to 3/4" of the bottom (not all rigs were built with EXACT tolerances) so this may vary slightly rig to rig.
Rear shackle hangar- This bracket is actually adjustable ( until you drill your mounting holes) There is a drain hole in the bottom of the OEM mount... I made a hole in the ne mount that would allow a bolt to go thru this, hold it in place with that one bolt, and lower the rig to see if it's level or not. If it sags... slide the new mount back. If it's higher in the back... slide the new bracket foreward. Once you are satisfies with the stance... drill your permanent mounting holes and you're done!!! There is a total of about 1.5" of height adjustment in the shackle hangars... pretty cool , eh? http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif The way I desinged the entire kit, it also angles your pinion up for you to relieve ujoint stress. No shims required!! I will tell you that once the axle is rotated by my kit... the axle shock mount rotates under the axle more...calling for mods to be a definite must on the top mount in the frame...they must be dropped down 7" and rearward about 1". I don't believe longer shacks would work, cuz the shock body will hit the axle tube.
Now the tank.... pretty simple install really. I do recommend a 3" bodylift, though (made it alot easier cuz I was able to line up the mounting points of the tank even with the frame instead of 3" below it)... otherwise the tank will drop down ALOT. You can see in the pics how much lower it sits BELOW my hitch... think about it and look at the pics again. I used 2.5" angle iron for the mounting. I set the tank in the frame with jackstands... leveled it.... and made my mounts. the rearmost was easieat... jsut made it wide enuf to rest inside the framerail lips and welded it in place. the fwd mount was a bit of a challenge but cam out easy in the end. My gage still doesn't register properly... but then I don't remember the last time it did anyway! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif The filler inlet on the new tank was 2 1/8"!!! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/eek.gif I had used and exhaust adapter, 1" steel tubing and 3/4" steel tubing to make the fittings for the FSJ lines. That took about 2.5 hours of work.
My hands are getting tired... hope you guy gotta enuf outta me for now... http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif
I will be posting more pics when I can... but I don't want to spoil the surprise on my new site when it's done.. you guys cna understand that...
