hi guys,
the previous owner had an ac delco filter on when i bought the truck. i went back to advance auto parts and described my dilemma. he looked up ac delco oil filters on my j10 and found that it uses a ac delco pf-24. got it, fits great.
the book at both autozone and advance call for a fram ph-25 and a purolator 20033. both those filters are WRONG. the purolator won't even catch the threads because it is too recessed. the fram will only go less than two turns before it jumps a thread.
DO NOT BUY A FRAM PH-25 OR A PUROLATOR 20033

I have a stock 360 and both Frams PH25 and PH11 fit perfectly...of course I've long since wised up about Fram and won't use one again. Just stickin with a K&N for now.
Maybe your 360's stock but the oil pump/housing are not? That possible? --Brent

i dont buy annything from autozone. And I sure would never put annything made by fram on my trucks.

Napa and car quest have good stuff though. Their oil filters are actually made by the samme company heh.

the only things I buy from autozone are decorative items ( window decals, paint, valve stem covers, etc. ) but I don't buy PARTS from them...

Fram filters tend to have a problem with the crimpimg that holds the paper into the filter not doing it's job. Once the paper lets go you have two problems. The first is obviously the actual filter medium traveling around your engine until it gets lodgedin a tight place, i.e. gallery, pump, etc. The second is that you now have no filter for the engine and you never know it.I use NAPA brand only and I feel comfortable with that.

i will use nothing but wick's they have the anti drain back valve and are a higher flow filter, but they filter well and are better than a Fram, their was a big write up somewhere on these filters....hmmm cant remember where

Wix filters are the same as Napa Gold and Purolator filters, probably the best made. Some guy actually spent time tearing apart nearly every brand of filter to see how well each was made. Verdict was that Fram sucked, Wix was the best constructed.

Yeah, I wish I had that internet link---that guy WAS OBSSESSED w/tearing apart every oil filter and determining its filtering capabilities. He did declare Wix "the best" but admitted he still had about six companies to go, including K&N...Brent

I've bought parts from Autozone. You have to research the part numbers on line and then bring the shopping list with you so the stroke non-English speaking counter jockey gets you the right part. As long as you stick with the name brand they usually have the best price.

I use AC-Delco all the time. Never Fram. Agree with all the others on Fram. 2 thumbs down. Can't remember if I was using AC PF-20 or PF-24. Not 25, for sure. AC-Delco makes great filters, especially their Gold series. Not sure if the FSJ filter comes in that series, though, but I use it on my GM engines.

Napa and similar chains using re-branded Wix filters are also good.
