On my 88GW with Dana 44 rear what is the count? I haven't taken apart yet but I think it is 30. Any Ideas.

look here (http://www.powertrax.com/jeep2lr.pdf). I'd say you're right.

ibnfe, read your reply, checked your link and have a question for you. I have a j20 i have owned for a number of years with a Dana 60 in the rear. Is this a stock item in the j20? i currently have a broken left axle which i can not find a replacement for in my area, everything is too short! i am collecting all the info i can before starting to restore the vehicle.

I don't know too much about the J-series trucks, just what I have read here and there, mostly from this board. Your truck may have a D60 from an earlier J-truck, or it may have the optional heavy duty axle in it. You can get the casting number and may find out that way, or take the VIN # to the dealer and they should be able to tell you. Offroad Tech page (http://www.off-road.com/jeep/tech/axle/d60.html) has a little info about it. As far as I know the Dana 60 was a heavy duty option available in the 70's J-series rigs.

Here (http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-corner/facts/axles/axle.htm) is some more info on what axles were used in what. Looks like the D60 you have is probably stock.

Thanks for the excellent info! I should be able to figure this out now.
