I was having trouble getting my truck started this spring.Due to the great advice here I got my rig started and running.
Now my cam is worn so it likes to foul the plugs.
addvice:
- Changed to Bosch +4 spark plugs - so far so good
no fouls.
or split fires work well too.
-Used Lucas oil in the oil change
- Marvel M oil at every fill up.
Thanks to all of you and the collective addvice gained here.
Now I can go fishing on Friday on my own boat!!!

warn cam shouldent cause fowled plugs. I would check the tune of the carb. It plugs fowl with fuel its the carbs prob. If its oil its rings or valve seals.
For the plugs, I would stay away from platinums myself as they require a very high energy ignition system as plastinum doesnt conduct electricity as well as a standard plugs.
But glad ya got it running smile.gif

My mech friend explained it as the worn cam is the cause.( he usually does all the work for me. since he builds nascar motors he 's mostly right.)
from the way you explained it, it maybe rings / valve seats.
other than that I just got a carb from another member which is in 5 times better shape than mine.
I have not put it on yet.

So is it fowling the plusg because of oil or because of fuel? A warn cam will just make you loose power.

actually having a company nascar I can say the engines last a long time. They generally last for a full season if the driver knows what he is doing.

Went home and checked the old spark plugs ..
lots of dry carbon-build up on them ...
which according to my Haynes means carb / emissions fuel prob. right?
Thanks Stuka. I believe I am on the right track.
