Will a receiver hitch from a later model Wag fit a 71? The listings at the local U-Haul show from 76-up. Is there a difference?
Thanks, Jeff

I think the frames are a bit different back. I know my 70 is different from the 79. But I think if you were to redrill it would work, if it will lay flat to the Frame. I never really looked into it that close. I have a class II I think it is off a 70 if you are not towing anything real heavy. Cheap.

I think I would overload a class 2--3,000 lbs of horse plus trailer. Jeff

I would think a Universal one would be best. I am sure they make on in Class III

I was also thinking universal. I put one of these on a 78 F*** truck and I may as well made a hitch from scratch for all the fooling around it needed. Was really hoping for a made to fit solution. Thanks, Jeff

I put a hitch from an newer XJ (late 80s - 96) on my 72 Wag. The frame matched up perfectly and I just had to drill some holes. It was very easy and works great plus they are cheap in the junkyards and on Ebay. smile.gif If you want I can measure the frame width so you can make sure yours is the same.

I have a xj hitch for sale (used). I paid $75.00 plus shipping, I would let it go for $50.00 and shipping. Got rid of the XJ, and never put it on. Now it's just in the way.
