i have a 229 in a 1989 GW that i have owed for about 6 weeks.the t/c was almost empty as mesured by my finger (not that one) so i toped it off. now small leaks all over the gravel drive way, so i check it agian. agian its almost empty! the case its self is reasonably dry, but the transmission had some very loose pan bolts. i really cant see any one source were it could all be coming from. is full for the 229 fill untill it runs out and replace bolt? or could i have over filled it and it "slung out" what wasnt needed?
btw, thanks to all of you for answering the many questions that i never had to ask.

full is like you described. only place fluid can go is out. is bottom of jeep coated in oil like a leakin' output shaft seal? sure you already tried it, but make sure drain plug tight.good luck!

Check the fittings on your lines. When it leaks out of the fittings between lines and tranny, it trickles down looking like its the pan thats leaking. I want you to know that I gather this from my personal experience.
