Hello,
I want to replace my fixed fan with an electric fan. Before I head to the junkyard, are there any specific ones you would recommend?
Thanks.

Just my $.02, the fans from a late-model FWD Cadillac with a 4.1, 4.5, or 4.9L V8 would probably do the job under normal conditions. It's a plastic shroud with 2 fans, one for normal cooling, and one for A/C. If necessary, you could wire them together so they both run at the same time. Of course, you'll need a thermostatic switch to run them, since in the stock application, they are computer-controlled. You can get a switch from Jeg's or Summit.

I have installed fans from a 1996 chrysler minivan. It is a single shroud w/ dual fans. I had to mount them upside down because the clearance is tight. These are very slim fans, since the clearance is tight, I highly recomend this set up. They will even bolt up to the shroud mounting bolts. Also, they are so effecient, I only have 1 running, and that is down here in Fl.
Any chrysler minivan 1996 to 2000 will work, and they made a bunch of them minivans.(Voyager, Caravan, Town & Country)

How much HP does the fixed fan kill, or do people replace the fixed with electric because of other reasons?
