bent one of my front main leafs again last weekend, for the third time
bent one once last year, had it rearched, bent both fronts about 2 months ago, had new ones made. bent the passenger side one again last weekend, starting to get kinda old now. Have been trying to figure out what is bending them, was thinking that I've been hitting the shackles and thus forcing it back and bending the springs so was being really slow and careful last weekend, still bent. When it bends the shackles gets pushed back into the frame and stays there. I think that my mains are too short(its 4" superlift), as such it is too easy for the shackle to go back. What I have done now is weld a limiting chain from the shackle to the frame to limit how far the shackle can go. Think that should work(fingers crossed). One of the old timers in my club suggested that what is causing the shackle to go back is being at full droop on one side and full stuff on the other then suddenly stuffung that side and drooping the other. he also said that there used to be available to buy limiting blocks that would weld on behind the shackle to stop the shackle from reversing like that. I figured that the chain idea would be easier on the shackle then always banging into the block. Will be trying her out this weekend so I'll let you folk know how it works out. Wish me luck :D
