Flywheel Problems

I have swapped engines in a 86 GW with Chry starter and the 91 GW with the Ford starter. The problem I have is the starter on the 91 will not engage the flywheel and I think the starter on the 86 has engaged and will not disengage. Does anyone know why this is and what I should to correct this?

you need to get a starter shim

and which flywheel did you use ????

I pulled the motor (flywheel installed) from the 91 and installed it in the 86. I installed a new motor in the 91 and installed the flywheel from the 86 because it was removed from the "core" that was being sent away. Are the flywheel's different from the 86 to the 91? The starter bendix on the 91 is extending when activated but it is not connecting to anything - just free spinning.

dosent the 91 have teeth on the flexplate and the 86 have them on the torque converter ????? like now you have 2 sets of ring gear teeth on the 86 and no ring gear teeth on the 91 ????
