well, i was putting the rotors onto my rear hubs yesterday and ran across somethin that some of ya might find interesting.
the 14 bolt hub is very thick,so i have to use the 14 bolt studs to attach the rotors. i have some rotors here that came off of a mid 70s chevy d44,and when i put one on,there was nt much stud sticking thru the top of the hub. those that have had a frot rotor/hub apart will be able to picture this: the round part on back of the 14 bolt stud is bigger than the one on the front stud, and on the rotor i had,the recessed holes that the stud fits into was smaller on the rotor, keeping the stud from pulling further thru. hmmmm.
no i just happend to have a brand new rotor id purchased to experiment with the d70 hubs,so i picked it up and discovered the recessed holes were larger in diameter, plenty big enuff for the 14 bolt stud. so off to the 'Zone i went to purchase a second one. i purcheased it for pretty much the same application as the ones ive got(77 chevy 3/4 ton 4wd k20) so i am not sure why they are different.
but at any rate, the stud now pulls thru far enuff im happy with it. yippee!so the moral of the story is if youre putting front rotors onto a rear 14 bolt hub check the rotors youre using and make sure the studs fit inside those recessed holes.
the d60 is different cause its hub is thinner, and you can simply use stock front studs.
thot some of yas might find this info handy, since it seems more and more of use are doing swaps like that...
