As I go shopping for a timing light (on ebay),
should I get one with an "advance" feature?
What does the "advance" feature do?

they are easier to use. they have a dial on the back that you set to the amount of advance you want. then you adjust the timing until the "0" lines up with the timing mark. you get a bit more accuracy, and easier to see.

Before I bought a used one off Ebay, take a look at Sears. Their dial back light is not expensive.
