What's Up all? Just joined today and have enjoyed reading everyones comments over the past couple days while at work--ha ha! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I was wondering if anyone has a source for aftermarket fender flares. I want to install them on my 81 Cherokee two door--Yes it is a Wide Tract. I have looked to JC Whitney, Warn, Bushwacker, and have no results.

I want the cut-out type that sort of look like the ones that are on most older chevy's. Would like to get around three inches of skirt from 'em. Will also want to keep the budget low and paint them the same color as the body. (PS---None of that roll crap that looks like landscaping border please.)

Since my flares were totally gone when I bought my "Red Damage Doer" for $750, I have a gap between the body and the tire wells. I hope they make flares that will slide between the two sides.

Also, I bought an add-a-leaf kit yesterday. The front spring is very thick and the rear ones are skinny and short--any comments?

What'er the drawbacks from a Wide Tract? I have a 360, 30"ers, NP208, Torqueflite 727 with tow package. From what I've fixed so far--rear seal, rear window switch, and tore out all the pickup truck mat the formaer owner decided to throw in, this beast is a tank! I have a 91 Cheeby K1500, and it comes no where close to this Jeep!! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks Ya'll from Austin Texas!!!

Thanks for the reply. Raybucks seems to have what I was looking for as far as stock, but how much do the stock flare stick out? I plan on running 33"s before long and take "Red Damage" off-road quite often. I'm kind of scared about paying so much for fiberglass, since it is so eay to break. The rubber/synthetic ones I want are a little forgiving on the rocks and trails of my ranch--south Texas--no mud http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/redface.gif http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/redface.gif

Does anybody know if the flares from a J- truck will fit?

Hey Big Paul,
Welcome to the forum!!
Well to tell the truth, I think you may have covered the basics on the fender flair question. I think that you might be looking for the generic type that will fit F*rds and Chebbies. I would look in some of the major 4 Wheel mags and make a few phone calls.
I myself have been Eyeing my 85 XJ. It has some plastic flairs that just may fit w/ a bit of trimming of the Wagon. The XJ's wheel wells look a little larger on the front. I planned to trim up the rusty part this winter anyway.
I am planning a trip to the boneyard this weekend. I may pull a set for a good side-by-side comparison.
Good luck and Welcome again http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif
