I'm sick of dumping oil all over my dif.

So I snuck a cookie sheet.

I found that the front track bar works great to slide it under then tip it pack to the drain pan. Then instead of burning the tar out of my hand tring to catch the drain plug. I let the pan nab it for me.

Then for the oil filter I again slid it under the track bar and tipped it down toward the front of the jeep to the drain
pan.

This might not work if you don't have a lift, but it sure made that the easyest oil change I ever did. Who says track bars aren't good for nothin?

why do you put oil on your diff? when i dump my oil i never have a problem like that.... it just goes into the bucket...

but it is a good idea! just that i would go buy a new one and not wash that one and put it back smile.gif

Hehe, might have to give that a whirl. I always make a big mess when I change my oil. The oil shoots out pretty far when I first taake the plug off, and then due to the SOA making the engine be up higher from the diff, it hits it just about square on top of the diff so it runs down all sides of it making a mess hehe

Those of us with the older trucks, don't have this problem, but the oil filter can make a mess!! I might try something similar with the oil filter, next time I change oil.

Of course, since my truck's not running at the moment, that might be a while!!

I wasn't laughing when it happened. I left out that not only did it make a mess, but it made mess on me. Also, I was driving it around just before to make sure the oil was nice and warm (hot :rolleyes smile.gif so it would drain better. Splashed in my face and hair... needless to say I was not a happy camper that day.
