Passenger side drop.

One from a CJ with an Auto will bolt up to a FSJ TF727.

It will also bolt up to a 1980 and later T-176, T-4, and T-5. Will not bolt up to the 80 and later T-18 because of the different spline count.

It will also bolt up to an early 90's Dodge NV4500, 80's Dodge NP435 and 727.

If you change the input gear to a 32 spline, it will bolt up to a Chevy Turbo 400, NV4500, 700R4, etc., with a clocking plate.

Can you clock a D300 to be a drivers drop.....esentially run it upside down?

Yep, for about $700.

So a 300 from a manual tranny will not bolt up to our 727s? What mod would have to be done?

Yes, the Dana 300 will bolt to an 80 or later FSJ 727 with no mods. Driveshaft clearance needs to be paid attention to though.

What mod would have to be done?see above smile.gif if you have a 727,then you also prolly have a driver side drop axle. if you swap a 727 into an older rig,or swap a pass side axle into a newer rig,you are then left with the issue of driveshaft clearance around the big fat tranny pan.i tried to run one behind my 6 cyl,and the drivesahft touched the pan in the front at stock ride height. i estimated id need at least 4" of suspension lift to clear.

if you are running a v8,it prolly wont be as bad since the tranny sits further forward in the chassis. other options may be redrilling the case to clck the xfer clockwise(viewed from the rear)

other than that, the exhaust will be in your way, youll need new driveshafts, and youll have to cut a hole in the floor for the shifter(s)

i ran one behind a 904 for awhile. the 904 is skinnier and is a better fit,and had a slightly lower 1st,and was plenty strong for my 258.

Scotty, I am planning on installing a D300 behind my 727 in my 88 GW. I already have a pass drop axle from a 78 Wag(not yet installed of course), I was just wondering if you know how much I have to lenghten/shorten the drive shafts? Any ideas?? Is there any other drive shaft from another application that may work without going to the expense of lengthening or shortening?

don, sorry, not real sure how much youll need to change. i do remember that my front was to long, and the rear different,as i was replacing a 208 that repalced a 207 that replaced a 219 smile.gif i used someting that i had here, but i dont remember what that was from. your rear will be to short,so best advice i could give is to scrounge up a too long shaft, and have it and your stock front shortened. you can keep your cv shaft by swapping on a fine spline d20 front cv yoke. sorry i couldnt be of more help on the lenghts :(

hmmm so I could bolt it to my T-5 but theres no point doing that because its the wrong side drop and also no point cause I dont plan to keep my T-5 in the long run.

plus you can get close to the d300 low rnge by building a 2.46 low range d20 with bronco d20/spicer 18 parts. or if you want to keep a low rear output and a offset rear output, you can use the spicer 18 behind a t18 smile.gif

Thanks a bunch Scotty, I knew you would have the ideas I needed. Think a J-truck rear shaft will work?? I know I will have to cut it down to size.

Again, Thanks a bunch :D

oops, almost forgot,ya,i think a j10 shaft will work fine. still has the 1310 u joints, but a huuuuge, fat tube. you likely wont twist the tube on that sucker ;)
