I have a 69 Wagoneer 350 4x4 that I use to pull a small Airstream occasionally. About 3 years ago I lost my low gear (prior to towing), now I'm blowing tranny fluid out of all my seals and sometimes my dipstick even blows out! I've been told that it is probably time for a replacement. I also blow my rear axel seals every 3-5 years. I've been told that I should think about "beefing up" everything (tranny, rear end, different braking) to something that may be better to tow with since I can't fathom giving up my "dream wagon!" Does anybody have suggestions of what I should do? I can see that this may tumbleweed into quite a project, but I just can't give up on her yet!

I'd pickup a set of 76-later NT wagoneer axles with the disc front and a new design - they go for VERY cheap here on the forum very frequently - maybe $200 -$300
Install those.

Tranny? - sounds like rebuidl time to me, but I guess it could be something simple too...I aint a tranny guy.
