ok ok it is not a FSJ but i just got a hold of a 67 CJ-5 in another state that i am just buying the VIN plate, title, and plates off of so i can build a pre emmisins jeep from scratch (besides it takes up less driveway space than another FSJ and the oil slick wont get any bigger) From what i know there is one eather on the firewall or on the dash over the glove box, anyone know if there is also a frame stamp like the later modle CJ's or know any one who would have this info?
any help apreciated smile.gif
The VIN is stamped on a plate rivited to the left(drivers side) of the firewall under the hood. It should also be stamped directly into the left frame rail just behind the bumper.

the tag is mounted to the right and just above of the master cyl the frame rail is stamped on the pass side 3 inches behind the shock mount on top of the rail so you can see it as you lean over the pass fender and look down

:D see this is the confusion that i am in !!
this is an early model CJ5 so it is diffrent than the late. so far i know the vin plate is on the firewall(somewhere) or passinger dash.
now as for the frame stamping Diver or passinger front or rear or not exist.
Is that thing removable? like how is it attached to the frame?
And if it is a b!tch to get off do i need it for a frame up build and can he just render it "unreadable" and scrap the rest.
also he will be selling the rest and is in Northern Ca.

VIN TAG.....PLACE IT ON THE FIRE WALL....DRIVERSIDE...TO!!! THE RIGHT OF THE MASTER CYL!!...AND AS FOR THE FRAME..THE VIN WOULD BEEEEE STAMPED INTO THE FRAME!!!....SO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO IS ..GET A CJ5 AND MAKE IT A 1967.....SO???? JUST DO IT..... THE VIN ON THE FIREWALL IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART...AS FOR THE FRAME... ...35 YEARS!!!!...ANT NO ONE LOOKIKG    ...GET TO WORK!!!!!!!!!! smile.gif smile.gif

http://www.specialtyparts.com/vins/kaiseramcvin.htmFWIW, where the above web sight says the VIN plate is for 55-71 CJ's, isn't even remotely close to where the Kaiser TSM's(with a picture of it) says it should be.

I have not found a frame stamp on my 1959. Besides, if you sandblast the frame down (which is a good idea anyway) it will remove all traces of frame stamping. AND, I doubt anybody in MD knows where the frame stamp for a 67 CJ5 is. And I doubt they care, 67 is old old old. What happens if you buy a new frame?? No stamp then.

my 70 cj has no plate on the drivers side all it has is the tag on the firewall to the right of the master cyl and the frame numbers are stamped in the frame and they match the tag on the firewall tag and the car has passed az/ca/nv state insp for out of state veh
