T-case hard to shift

Now that the G-Wagon is purring again, the only other issue I have noticed it that the t-case (NP229 select-trac) can be very hard to shift. Is there a quick easy fix for this like a bushing that needs to be replaced, or am I not shifting it properly?

Maybe there is no fluid in it. mine wouldn't shift and when it did it sounded afull. just added ATF and it was great after that.
