When't to fire up Mystery Machine today and boy did it run ruf. Got to smelling gas so shut it down. Looked under and gas is pouring out from under my rig's engine bay. So much for checking MPG on this tank. It was coming out the bottom of the charcoal canister.

My thought was the float was acting as a boat anchor in my freshly rebuilt 2150. Popped the cap and sure enough. That float could have stopped a tug boat in it's tracks it was so deep.

So to make this long story longer I re-soldered the float and slammed it back into it's home. After emptying the gas out of it of course. All is well again. Oh and did I mention that this little fiasco made me 1.5 hours late for an appointment.

So now to the meat of this post. I noticed when the lid was off and I was ready to take the float out that ther was a gurgle sound. I stopped to look, listen and feal for 5 to 10 seconds and watched the float bowl empty into the intake one gurgle at a time. With the float down it was letting air into the bowl with gas and causing something to happen that let the gas into the intake. Well just something for you hard start experts to ponder. Ummm, empty bowl!!! Hint, bad needle valve, seat or float.

A leaking power valve will let the gas drain from the bowl. The PV chamber that is on the vacuum side uses either a hose on the cap under the carb or theres a small passage drilled that connects the PV cap to the inside of the carbs base. The PV gaskets are very easy to ruin if you don't keep them centered right and if you overtighten them. On holleys they are on the metering plate but on the Motocrp they are on the floor of the fuel bowl makeing then wonderful bowl drains. More than lightly this where the fuel drain is occurring.
As for the over filling it could be your inlet needle and seat also.
