dash guage swap question

I was curious has any one swapped out an older round style guage setup w/ left side a/c controls into the newer style dash

If you swap gauges from the round to the later square style dash or vice versa the later(87?) used different senders for at least the fuel gauge. If you mix'em the gauge will read backasswards so you'll at least need to swap fuel sender unit. Don't know about the other gauges sending units?
